I found my first female blossom in the patch a few days ago and my plant is about 15 ft long now so I'm excited but I just was looking over my plant awhile ago and noticed a big vine split! Can anyone suggest what I can do for it? Thanks in advance for any input

Location of the female blossom and location of the "spilt" vine? When you say "split" do you mean crack or a fracture vine? Is it going down the length of the vine or is it across? Where your female is located in relation to the injured vine will make the differenec if you will want to keep and polinate that female. If crack is on the main vine and the female is distal to that crack ( meaning the crack is between the stump and the female) then the fruit will not get full potential from my past experience. If crack is past the fruit then better chance for reaching full potential. If my main vine had a crack in it I would set pumpkins only on main or secondary vines that are located before the crack.

thanks for the information. This is my first year in growing giant pumpkins so all of this is a new experience for me. The split is on a vine totally opposite from the fruit so I guess it should be okay. The vine split lengthwise. I think I will get some fungicide and apply it to the vine. Hopefully, that will keep any bugs or diseases out.
