Bob, Are you putting some kind of cloth on the pumpkin to cover it? I've made the mistake of putting a bath towel over a young kin, and it got wet, and discolored an area of the pumpkin. I hate to admit it, but I did this two different years, with similar results. I never had the problem when covering with a light bed sheet. Just something to consider.

I have been putting a small square of white bed sheeting over the pumpkin during the day. Not quite white, since it is the same little piece i have been using over the young pumpkins for the past 5 years. This splotchiness shows up all around the fruit, probably in places that the sheet would not be touching. As of this morning-still growing-daily cc numbers day 9-21.5, day 10-25, day 11-28.5, day 12(today)-32
