Saw cucumber beetles today in NC! Remember when it comes to insecticide, stronger is not always better, it often hurts the plant especially in the middle of the day.... new growers consider yourself warned.

Plan on spraying for insects AND disease June 1 here in Vermont.

Proactive is better than reactive.

Found clusters of small eggs (svb) I think on 3 or 4 leaves total on all of 5 plants. Sprayed Merit 75wp after scraping egg clusters off of leaves. I am at a loss to remember application rates? I also have Talstar pro. Any recommendations as to mix rate for a 2 gallon pump sprayer would be a God send!!! Peace, Wayne

Thanks folks, I used 1/4 tsp of merit w/2 gallons water, and sprayed on tops & bottoms of leaves. Is Merit contact & systemic? In a few days I will use the talstar & foliar spray again. If I just scraped the eggs off & let them drop, are they then dead...or will the eggs reattatch & continue to grow? Thanks for all the suggestions...soonly will come the fungicide questions? Eagle 20? Peace, Wayne

Bifen I use 1 tsp/ gallon also.

Merit 75 water soluble powder. I use 3 tsp/gallon.

Merit is the best for cuc beetles and Bifen = no squash bugs.

Hank, you sure? I found the application label for the Merit 75WP, & it suggests rates a LOT lower than 3tsp/gal. Another ?, can I mix em together & spray both at the same time? Peace, Wayne

Bifen .5 to 1 oz per 1000 sq ft for stink bugs on lawns, from the label
