Hey all, it's my second year growing and I have 2 pumpkins that I'm trying to get to Oct 20th here in Ohio. One looks good and the other also looked great until today. We've had about a week of cloudy, chilly rainy weather here and I've been trying my best to keep everything aired out and dry, but I noticed the vine has split and is getting soft. The split is located on the main vine a few inches to one side of the stem. It is a few inches long and is kinda soft. I scraped away the really soft stuff, but how do I move forward? How do I get a picture up?

You need to create a diary & post a pic of your problem. A split isn’t necessarily a problem but if there is disease there it is a different situation. You need to carve or scrape down to tissue that doesn’t look diseased. Then spray Hydrogen Peroxide or Isopropyl alcohol & dust it with Sulfur powder. If it doesn’t look like you can get to tissue that isn’t diseased, cut the main vine off. I tend to err on the safe side as I have had a large pumpkin go down from disease in the vine. You’ve got quite a way to go to Oct 20. Is MoCo Montgomery county? You could take your Pumpkin earlier to Hamilton Oct 12.
