Once fruit set I pulled the roots along the main vine a couple of feet on either side of the fruit and noticed some brown soft spots, mostly on places that had previously been covered with soil. I wondered if it could be a fertilizer burn, since there was some granular fertilizer quite close to the vine where some (but not all) of the spots are. I have a photo, but not sure how to upload it on the message board. This is my first year growing an Atlantic Giant.

You need to create an account, and upload it to your diary, then post a link to the diary page you need help with. Normally new subscribers take a day to get photos up, so don't be alarmed if it doesn't happen immediately.
Good luck :)
