Hi Everyone,

We have noticed Japanese Beetles on leaves in our patch today. Are they a big problem for pumpkins like they are on flowers? Should we get a beetle trap? Thanks for your advice.

Hi, Kids! I have been following your progress over the past few monthes and I am impressed to say the least. Keep up the good work. In regards to your Japanese Beetle problems, I would not recommend a "beetle trap" unless you set it up well away from your plant (couple of blocks at least). They use a Pheromone (scent) to attract males to the bag and probably attract more to the area doing more harm than good. Manual methods of hand picking and give them a squish or collect them in a bag a release them to other areas is your best bet. This also relieves you of having to use additional chemicals to rid them. How distructive they are to pumpkin plants? I don't know that. I'm a rookie........Good luck and let me know how you fare. Fred
