just ordered my seeds for the 2020 growing season.Trying to work up the best battle plan to protect my vines.Without spending a fortune on merit imidacloprid. Some bayer products have this in them.Thoughts?also how to apply granules and till into the earth?
My other thought is Diatomaceous Earth and till this in the hill.Do you think this would be beneficial?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I use VIVA SVB traps you can buy on Amazon. They work well for me. 2 traps for $16. Make sure you put them out early enough to catch SVBs. I usually end up replacing my traps because they are full of SVBs.

You can buy 6.4 oz merit 75wp, enough to last a lifetime depending on your patch size, for $36 on Amazon

DE works when the bugs crawl through it, and the tiny glass particles cut into their bodies and dries them out. I don't think tilling it in will be all that effective. I think it is usually used as a surface dust.

If merit costs more than diatamaceous earth you might be using too much. It has a long half life and should be used sparingly if you care about non target insects like bees.

Diatamaceous earth has silica which is good it but its meant for dusting as far as I know it doesnt work when wet... I think you would have to dust fairly often to be effective.

If you need some insecticide I can help out. I put together a club order each year and I am sure we can get you enough to cover what you need for a low price.
