Hi,
I am growing two AG plants. Both have odd yellowing to flower stems and the flowers don't appear to be developing beyond the pictures. This is happening to all flowers buds on both plants.
I noticed this just today.
Other than that the plants are growing quick. I have fed them a 21-0-0 a few weeks ago (granular)and i've fed them a 4-2-2 liquid once a week for the last three weeks.
When i transplanted them four weeks ago, i added happy frog and compost to my sand loam soil. Mostly compost.
Its been warm the last couple of weeks. Even temps around 85-90 which is rare.
They may have gotten dry as well. I have watered them about every other day.
My guess is that this has to deal with either too rich a compost, too much N, or dry conditions but i am spitballing here. I wonder if someone else has experienced this and can offer some guidance.

You need to add a bloom booster with P & K in it to get your blooms to start forming.

That looks like it could be normal pigmentation . The yellow highlight on the sepal is one variation common in AG's.Looks like the plant has yellow leaf stalks which would be consistent with that sorth of pigmentation.Now if the flower petal gets yellow and shrivels up then youve got a problem. Look ar your oldest flowers right arount the stump-those should be more developed and possibly some getting ready to bloom. If its stress its heat and lack of water but your leaves look good so Again I dont think theres a problem. Dont give it fertilizer that will only complicate thesituation.

My guess would be acidity/ limited roots/ water. The 21-0-0 is ammonium sulfate right? Problem with that stuff and also with peat moss is the acidity can build up. It really adds a lot of acidity so you probably want something to keep that from happening. I'd try bone meal. It's hard to hurt them with bone meal and it may help. I think if temps warm up you'll get more calcium regardless of the acidity. Warmer temps, more sunlight, less water, will help. That would be my guess. (Maybe not worth a lot.)

Also lime or wood ash but... you want to get the amount right or you will cause as many problems as you fix.

Revision... I can't tell for sure but I maybe think cojoe is right, it's likely just the natural pigmentation and totally healthy. They may develop just fine.

You guys are the best. Thank you for the information. I watered the plants deep, then i drenched the plants with a 18-22-22, and foliar sprayed with a 4-6-2.

From here i think i will keep my eyes on it and see what happens.

The pic I looked at doesn’t look all that out of the ordinary... you should start a diary...save some us the extra 3 minutes to cut and paste, remember which one we cut and pasted...yadda yadda yadda....cojoe knows what’s he’s talking about.( BP.com rule 4 I think...don’t listen to gkins...might be rule 3...can’t remember....) good luck!...soil and vine look nice...

Thank you Pork Chop and Big Moon! I will start a diary. lol.

This is my third year growing. I'm improving each year and i'm learning a lot and making mistakes along the way.

I just got nervous when i saw the yellowing, but now that i look at it again with your perspectives, i see that it might be just fine.

Growing AG's is definetly fun but its stressing me out a bit. lol. I gotta try to relax more.
