Its been a year of rot in the patch. Today i found this one. Its 150 total inches. So a bit larger than a beach ball but not by much.
Here is a link to the photo: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=318539
Can aborts be this large? The three previous aborts rotted when they were a bit smaller.
Any idea what it might be? At first i thought it may have been overwatering but i've cut that back and i am only watering when i think its necessary. Usaully as bit by the stump every other day .
I am a newbie so looking for any advice.

Google black rot or gummy stem blight of pumpkins and winter squash and compare photos of the disease with what you have. From the photo in your diary and the explanation that you lost other pumpkins I think that might be what you have.

Thank you Steve. I think you are right. I hope you are having a good year. My year started good, then lots of rot, i hope i can salvage one by the end of the year. I'm paying my dues i guess.

Steve, do you have any direct experience with this? My plan is to go hot and heavy with eagle and try to squeek one out. lol. While things were going well, i was on vacation for a couple of weeks, so i missed some treatments

Enchanted farm, I just saw this old post, your last two diary pictures give away what happened. It was Yellow Vine Disease that got your plants. Be ready this year, now is the time to be super proactive. Keep them sprayed with a good synthetic pyrethrin like bifenthrin or permethrin.
