Thanks Kyle for the Quadris shortage information. I'm sorry I didn't check this out 2 weeks ago. It might have saved you guys $30.

With a worldwide shortage of Quadris Flowable Fungicide, I decided to look again at Heritage 50% Wettable Powder which I sell. Low & behold, Syngenta has merged the Agriculture & Turf & Ornamental labeles of this fine Strobilurin fungicide.

So we can now use Heritage both commercially in agriculture as well as in casual backyard or competitive growing.

Find the expanded label here:

http://www.cdms.net/ldat/ld61T006.pdf

see page 22 of the new 30 page label for Cucurbits.

The 1 lb jar costs $372.00 by Agency agreement. One pound is the smallest package available.

This 50% DF is used on Cucurbits at 3.2 - 8 oz per acre for Anthracnose, Belly Rot, Downey Mildew, Gummy Stem Blight, Leaf Spots, Myrothecium Canker, & Powdery Mildew.

Azoxystrobin has the unigue ability to enter the sap stream & move both up & down in the plant making it a true systemic. This is nice since growth ocurring after the application gets to "feel" the treatment made several days before.

Heritage is considered a "Reduced Risk Pesticide".

Other trade names for Azoxystrobin include Quadris, Abound, Amistar, Icia, Protege, & Quilt. Azoxystrobin has also been bundled with Mefenoxam under the reade name Quadris/Ridomil Gold Twin-Pak.

For those wondering, Heritage kicks it's cousin Flint's butt in efficacy. Trifloxystrobin is very good. Azoxystrobin is much better.

Class 11 fungicides are where the industry is heading. Less dangerous products that are derived from naturally ocurring organisms (mushrooms in this case) make for less hazardous use & handling. Plants & beneficials appreciate the gentler aspect of the mode of action & formulation too. Unintended colateral impact of soil organisms is quite low with these materials. Earthworms populations are unaffected at labeled rates even when applied to soil. See reference at:

Note I didn't break NY law by using the word "SAFER" any where in my description!

Now you tell me after I already bought Flint/Compass!
Oh well, the Abound is on it's way and I now have 2 of the new-generation fungides...no resistance buildup happening here.

You got me thinking this morning. You were already at work so I let you be. It's funny how these things go sometimes.
