I found a cucumber beetle (green with spots...looks like a green ladybug) in my patch today. I am planning to spray with Sevin. Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

If I were you and only found 1 bug I would hold off spraying for a while. Try to kill them by hand while your plant is still young. Just squash them between your fingers

If this is not practical or if bug populations start getting too high I would spray the plants surroundings with full strength sevin mix. I would hesitate to spray a young seedling but if you absolutely must I would use a 1/4 to 1/2 strength mixture.

I have had serious leaf burn on new foliage with sevin mixed 1 Tbs. to 1 gallon of water. Be careful Dean o

I'm in agreement. A full strength perimeter spray to all harborage areas might be in order. But never hit the young plants at anything more than the lowest rate. And even then only in the cool of early evening.

Something milder on the plants would be even more desirable.
