I feel like I am growing bind weeds, not pumpkins. I hoe them in the morning and they are back at night. I hoe then at night and they are back in the morning. Anyone have any bright ideas how to get rid of them without messing up my pumpkins? ...that is besides hoeing every morning and night. I developing some great technique with the hoe and my endurance is coming along as well, but there are a couple other things I'd like to do this summer.

Im with Tom--Roundup. Ive had the best luck waiting until the first frost them spraying the creeps. If you use round up be extra careful to control spray drift on your plants. Have a Aunt that uses cotton balls soaked in banvel--places the soaked cotton balls on the weed and a coffee can over the weed.

Ditto the Roundup or Banvel (be careful!).

Another option is to cover the entire patch with at least a half inch of weed free soil. I used some Premier ProMix BX on the mound in our expansion area given the greater weed pressure there. Even though we have manure derived Clover popping up for the first time ever, the mounds are clean. Not the cheapest option but if it keeps me from hoeing the are where roots are................
