I put my plants out on 21 May, since 4 days there are a couple of fruitflies sitting on both plants´. Do they harm the plants or is it just nothing i should be worried???

you sure fruit flies? or are they white flys? white flys can be killed by spraying a water/soap mix on your plant. do a seach here to find the mix or email me and I will give it to you.

I am reserving comment on this one since I know absolutely nothing of the small flying insect pests of Germany. Is there a local authority on insect pests that can confirm the species?

Yep, the local authority is my grandma n she says its fruitflies n they won`t harm the pumpkin, but who knows... I´ll try the water/ soap mix when it has stopped raining here...maybe next week;);)

Only time I've seen fruitflies in the patch is when "things went bad"!(pumpkins)

hand those yellow sticky traps up around your plants, kind of fun to see what you get after a week, cuts back on some of the bugs you never seen but harm your plants.

Now if only those yellow sticky traps would kill Tobacco Horn worms. Maybe a mouse trap would kill me some horn worms. use a Tomato insted of Cheese.
