Will Merit control my white flies? I have some cucumber beetles but my real problem is white flies. I've been using Sevin but don't want to have to spray everyday. I'm in California so I can't get Warrior T or Talstar. I'm open to suggestions.

Oh yeah, I don't have a insecticide applicators license or any other sort of pesticide permit. I'm just a regular guy with little flies eating holes in my leaves.

white flys are about the easyest thing to control. just mix in 1-2 tsp of dish soap to a gallon of water and spray your whole plant top to bottom, make sure you get the under sides of the leafs. spray 1-2 times a week. some say to use more soap but I say at higher doeses you run the risk of burning your leafs in the hot sun. make sure you don't spray when the suns out!!! best early morning or before dark. hope this helps!!!

Merit does a nice job controlling White Flies.

The new Talstar-One isn't yet registered in CA (what else is new?). But the old Talstar-F is still registered & being manufactured until CA jumps on board. So it is still out there. But it might be restricted use in CA. I'm not sure.

Between Merit & M-Pede Insecticidal Soap (real SOAP, not a detergent), very good control can be had. Just watch the temperature closely when spraying soaps or detergents since plant damage is likely above 80F.

Keith,

What we sent you is 75%. Use 4 level teaspoons in 2 gallons of water to treat 1000 sq ft. The way you planted, I'd treat a 10' x 12' area (120 sq ft) around each plant with 1 quart of the described mix. I used 120 sq ft because the math worked as close to perfect as possible.
