does anyone know what the proper mixing rate of
banner maxx systemic fungicide per gallon of water,
and how many gallons of the mix should be appled to the
root system in a drench form? also, is it ok to mix merit
with banner maxx and drench the roots at the same time with
out any harmful effects from mixing both?
all advice is greatly appreciated.

1.5 - 2 mls per gallon for Powdery Mildew.

I would exercise some caution during & just prior to flowering. When the former Ciba/Geigy (then Novartis) bought Propiconazole from the original research scientists, they thought they were getting a Plant Growth Regulator to reduce growth & control flowering. In many ways, the did just that. Some bedding plants respond to Banner by slowing growth. Begonias & Impatiens remain very dark green & compact even at low rates. But at higher rates, they fail to flower for up to 2-3 weeks. This can be a blessing for some flower producers.

I have never experimented with Banner on Cucurbits during flowering. So I haven't got a clue if the same anti-flower traight is exhibitted here or not. Just a heads up.

I will also say that in the years I've used Banner for Powdery Mildew (after fruit set), I've been very happy with the results & would use it again.

Has anyone else here tried Banner prior to fruit set?

tremor, thanx again for the help. i will not use
it until i am sure the pumpkins are set and growing.
probably in mid to late july i will use it prior
to the dreaded powdery mildew which shows up in august.
is it safe to mix with merit and how long before
it begins to work after using it as a root drench?

They can be tank mixed for foliar use. But I usually use Merit as a root drench in which case small vines feel it within days. Larger vines can take a week to translocate Merit.

Tip: Add some soluble fertilizer (even tiny amounts) to speed uptake & translocation of Merit.

I wouldn't apply Banner as a root drench. It is an acropetal penetrant, meaning in moves upward slightly from the point of application to green parts only. Only one fungicide root absorbs & then translocates thyroughout the plant.

Prodigy Signature/Aliette (Fosetyl-aluminium) is the only truly basipetal systemic fungicide in the world.
