Anyone with experience with Aliette? I am wanting to spray it together with Merit and Ortho Bug-B-Gone. I know it is incompatible with copper based fungicides and with Daconil, but I can't find anything to suggest that it is a problem with these pesticides. Anybody know about this? Thanks!

We have a fungicide called Aliette available here in Germany that has "Fosetyl-Al, 80%" as the active ingredient. Is this the same product in the US?

Hi, Martin -- Yes it is the same stuff. Slightly different chemical terminology for the US version, but it is the same -- Aliette trademark by Rhone-Poulenc. Any experience with it? -- Chris

The "other" technical name we often use here in the US is "Aluminum Tris".

Don't overlook the chance to tank-mix Aliette with Mancozeb. These are the only two fungicides in the world that synergize when mixed together; meaning they control a greater number of disease than the sum of their parts.

Good question on Bug-B-Gon -- there are only about 8 different flavors on that...what I have is the esfenvalerate 0.425% concentrate. I like it for immediate results while waiting on Merit, or for a "touch-up" if I need it between applications of TalstarOne or Scimitar, plus the Bug-B-Gon is safe for my veggies (I don't use the TalstarOne or Scimitar there!).

Interesting about Aliette plus Mancozeb! I was not aware of this synergy. I wanted the systemic effect of Aliette for downy mildew, but have had Rhizoctonia, angular leaf spot, and gummy stem blight at various times, so broader spectrum would be very desirable. (Also, wife has roses with tough black spot.)

What coverage does the combo give? Any special tank mixing precautions?

I have no first hand experience with your formulation & would recommend a jar test first. Ortho makes no advisory on their label as to tank mixes. I'm not worried about the active ingredient. I'm more concerned they may have skimped on the inerts. The primary retail uses seem to be geared toward exterior pest control (Fleas, ticks, chiggers, etc) where tank mixes are seldom considered.

You might also wish to call Ortho at either of the above numbers & ask them directly.

If you'd like more info on the tank mixes, send me an email. I'll reply you copies of labels of the Aliette & Mancozeb labels from my other computer. Tank mix instructions appear on them.

This spring we had a local grower's plants come down with a hideously fast acting disease that none of us locals recognized. While we waited for the pathology labs results, I gave him material for & instructions to do a soil drench followed by a Tank Mix foliar treatment. All the plants were saved except the first one that exhibitted symtoms. The lab report confirmed Angular Leaf Spot. Had we known previously, I woulkd first have recommended a fixed copper spray. But the tank mix did work out well.
