WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR

So. Maine

Not growing a new record pumpkin but for killing off woodchucks .....just buried # 6 for this season. I think the most I have got in 1 season is 8 .

Any other giant pumpkin growers deal with more than that ?

I couldn't take it any longer...after the first two woodchucks got new zip codes and I was still losing lettuce,
morning glories, jack-be-littles and gords, I invested in an electric fence. Problem solved, luckily a small patch/garden!

I would think what a pumpkin grower with lots of small critter problems and a smaller patch would need is an electric poultry fence. I seen these in operation on some free range chickens. Very portable, and impermeable, to predators. So they have to keep them darn woodchucks out.

I've used an electric fence for 2 years now and not a problem with anything other than birds flying in to eat my sunflowers. All the materials can be found at a local cattle/feed/AG/co-op store.
