HI All,

I have had several fruit stems turn into brown mush and start to smell real bad and attract lots of fruit flies. I decided to try to repair (don't want several hundred pounds of mush). So I cleaned with a toothbrush then used a paste of captan and joint compound used for gypsum wallboard. It is compoed of limestone or gypsum, so it is going to bemostly calcium so I thought it would work alright. Well the stem has begun to dry out and the paste hides the smell so the bugs stay off. Anybody else try joint compound?

Have had this disease, and have considered it to be gummy stem blight. Have had a great response to a paste made from Kocide and water. Captan didn't work for me. Have never used joint compound -- Chris
