Just wanted to update an earlier posting here. My friend Joerg´s pumpkin with 2 small splits on the blossom end made it to the end of the season (and is still alive) with the help of resin from a fir tree in my garden.
Resin seems to work disinfectant and is much easier to apply than "pumpkin juice" (the method described in the how-to section) and flexible enough to close a split even if it still gets bigger. In that case it can be applied several times - like we did. After drying out resin looks and works pretty much like the stuff a pumpkin produces to heal itself.

Ingo,

Did you have to scrape some bark off the tree or cut some branches to get enough of the resin?
