I guess it would be a good idea to add the 2002 diary section now. Many folks who can´t wait (including me) already do entries that don´t fit into the last years section.

addition: new entries only appear in the "what´s new" area on the homepage and then disappear. Can´t find them in the diaries after because they close in 2001.

I just made the fix.
You can now choose 2002 from the drop downs.
Please keep in mind that the diary section was used A LOT last year. We are going to overhaul it within the next month or so to make it easier view.

Thanks for the good news. I think the diaries are essential if that much information is posted like from the Riverview schoolkids. It´s never the same if you just describe it in words or show pictures with comments. It´s a real how-to section that helped me a lot to plan the season for 2002 and to learn about timing & maintaining, I´ve already translated a lot for friends in Germany. However, the more pictures, the longer the time to load. For me diaries like Riverview sometimes do not appear after minutes (with DSL). Maybe thumbnails or links will help. Thanks again for that great service. Perhaps more growers will be encouraged this year to post detailed reports. It´s a fine way to identify how "the seeds in our hands" grew up.

Yeah, an overhaul of it should be great.
I was thinking of having a better listing of each person's diary. I was thinking maybe showing the amount of entrie's each person has before I choose the diary I want to view (since I usually like reading through diaries with lots of entries). Maybe show if they have pictures or not in it too, I dunno. Just a suggestion.
You *could* add a bandwidth option in the user settings where people could choose if they wanted resized images or full size images in the diary listings. I like the full size ones since I do have cable. The diaries really helped me learn.
Anyway, you guys have done great ASP programming throughout the site, although I prefer PHP over ASP :) Which database are you using, btw?

Good ideas there leapingfrog. The new design will be more flexible and work better with lots of data. Paul the diaries themselves are great but we need to make accessing them even easier.

It's great to have that diary. I can write something similar down on paper, but I'd eventually end up losing it! It's wonderful to be able to look back at past years, and compare other grower's diary's as well!
