Hello All,

I just made a modification to the way chat works to help diagnose the problems people are having when entering a room.

If you are a Windows IE 5+ user that was having trouble before, please let me know how you are making out now. You should be prompted with a message to enter the room using our downlevel chat program.

I wondered what the extra button to get into chat was for. I am on aol and had troubles with both the aol explorer and ie 5. after upgrading to ie 6.0 the problems dissapeard. The error message left no way i could find to determine what error had occured. My wifes laptop with windows xp and aol 7.0 and ie 5.5 had some troubles. but not as consistant as my desktop. upgrading from aol 5.0 to 8.0 had no effect. I would suspect that something with aol and ie 5 is where the problem lies. if there is some kind of error log or something that i could check and email a copy to you i would be happy to do so.

John I just found this thread. Yes I am! This is the only place too! When I enter all is OK. Three or four posts later I freeze up, most of the time, while typing in a post. I am refering to the chat board. Can't stay on there for love nor money. My only correction is to reboot. This lasts for about four to a dozen more posts. I can find no time in the day when this will not happen.

I have chat problems frequently when going into chat..Last 4-5 days it is horrible..I have IE 5.0,,,and DO NOT have AOl.....Everybody in chat Sunday morning was having problems...Hope it gets fixed soon

The evening you hoped for stability I lasted a few more posts like ten or more before freezing up. This AM with only four in chat I made it a tad longer but did not excape the problem on low chat volume either.

Finally got IE 6.0 direct from IE. In the process discovered two patches they had hung there for me to overlook some time ago. Installed all new and fresh. Picked up and downloaded the patches. That cured my problems with the chat board. Thank you for the help.
