I was thinking it might be nice if we were able to view certain information about the people that are here. The info viewable could be dictated by the growers themselves to insure privacy if wanted. I was thinking something along the lines of Yahoo profiles or something similar. Real names, location, personal best, picture, etc.

I agree...this would really come in handy now that the chat room is up and running. For this reason I would like to see "age" listed so I don't waste all my filthy blonde jokes on a 6 year old who couldn't possibly appreciate them.

I would also like to move that we define "personal best" as the mean of all the members individual bests. This way we all have the same "personal best" and no one gets his/her feelings hurt. "Rock, what is your personal best? 700 lbs.....Brent, What is your personal best? 700 lbs". Now doesn't that sound better:)

yes, i agree i don't know if i want to show my personal best ....... it is only 100 lbs, but i have read almost everything on the net about growing giant pumpkins, and i know a lil' 'bout fertilization, and how a plant functions. So just because my personal best isn't 1263lbs i can still help a lil'.

We actually had already planned this type of thing. It is one section of the database we are currently working on. It will tie into the pumpkin genetics stuff. Every user of the site will be able to maintain their own grower profile. There is one problem with "age" that we have to figure out. It has to do with federal privacy laws.

I was thinking that the various fields (age, location, picture, personal best, contact info, etc) should be left up to the person to reveal or not. I'd guess that might avoid conflict with the privacy laws. ???

Yes, we will alllow certain information to be designated as public or private, for example address. We need address so we can mail seeds to the person but they might not want their address publically available. Other info like picture and personal best the grower can protect by just not providing it.
