I was reading down through the pumpkin chat transcripts and noticed I did not answer these questions, sorry about that..Joe P.
John D.: Joe, what do you consider when selecting seeds. Size only? John, I study the seed genetics very carefully putting a lot of emphasis on the male pollinator. On the female side, I look for something "proven," such as the 935 Lloyd and then try to find a cross where the male pollinator produced a very big pumpkin (the year it was used as a pollinator). That's what drew me to the 723 Bobier seed last year and now after this years results are in, has proven to be a very good seed.
john boy: What state are you from pumpkinut? I live in the western part of New York State approximately 25 miles south of Rochester.
