For the second year I am getting fluffy white mold spores growing on the soil in my pots when germinating my seeds. I am wondering if this is the mycorhiza that I mixed into the potting soil before planting. Has anyone else seen this? I thought it was old potting soil last year so I bought a new bag this year but I still have the same thing going on.

okay, if you have mixed Mycorrhizae into your seed-starting mix, then YES, it is the Mycorrhizae that is germinating, or sporellating or whatever it does, lol! i was impressed with the fact that i can sprout fungus at about 24 hrs. eventually the fluffiness will go away and you will have a gross-looking whitish substance that used to be a mini cotton ball on yer peat pot. do not remove it, for i think it might be the Myco still, but just another phase of it. in other words, it is okay to leave it on there. if you ever have mold or fungus on your seed-starting mix and you have NOT added Myco, beware, for this could be the "damping-off" fungus at work! eric

ok, i believe any form of fungus is not good fungus when it comes to plants. i fend it off by using 2 tablespoons per gallon of water of simple mouth wash. it will kill the fungus. While in the greenhouse, although it will kill off any bacteria that may be beneficial in your garden as well so use on exactly what you want to kill in the garden. It works great in sprayer also you can use it on trees, the yard or whatever.
