When starting seeds in peat pots is it best to water from the bottom? How dry should soil become between watering (how often do you water)?
Once again thank you to all who comment!

I wet my peat pots and then put in moist potting soil. Then sow the seed about an inch deep. By wetting the potting soil before the seed is in place, there is no chance of floating it to the top. Prior to the seedlings sprouting I use plastic wrap to hold in the moisture that the seed was started with.

Once the seedlings come up, I water once a day with a spray bottle. By using a spray bottle the soil isn't disrupted.

You can see in Pumpkin Cam, Specifically the second Germination Archive, how little the soil moved between watering. This is due to the spray bottle application of water.
