How many days ahead do most start their seeds before the day of placing them in the garden? i'm thinking 20 days prior should work just fine? Thanks Bumkin

Bumkin, It depends on the size of the pot you use. I would say 7 to 10 days in a 4" pot after soil emergence would be the absolute maximum. Otherwise you run the risk of tap root reaching the bottom and gridling in the bottom of the pot. You'll get more time in a larger pot.

I usually start my seeds on 4/20 and have them in the ground by the 1st of May.
