I used pro-mix bx for the first time. I have my pots on a heating mat set at 85 degrees. I have bad success so far and noticed the saran wrap is soaking wet. I removed the saran wrap on one seed and noticed a little mold on the top surface. I think I over watered...should I take the saran wrap off and leave it off??? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated Id really like to save these seeds. Thanks in advance

Aliette, Agri-Phos, Banol, Truban, Banrot, Subdue, etc for chemical controls but only if you catch it FAST.

We have never seen pythium or damping off when I make my own soilless mix. EQUAL PARTS

One part fine milled sphagnum
One part Vermiculite
One part Perlite
One part warm water & not a single drop more...if you can squeeze more than two drops of water from a very tightly squeezed handful then it's too wet.

I start all seeds in a folded paper towel inside a Ziploc bag. Use a reliable heat source & thermometer to insure the seeds are constantly between 89 & 90 degrees.

Thanks John and Tremor..I took the saran wrap off when I got home from work. The Pro-Mix is great but holds in moisture really well. I got some fans going and scraped the top surface a little on the pots. This morning the 275 VanHook popped up and the 1470 Wallace cracked dirt. Hopefully the rest will be alright. It seems the saran wrap held in too much moisture and there was no air circulation. Thanks again and I raised the germ mat to 89 last night.
