Do all the heavy hitters start more than one seedling, I have been starting one seed and hoping for the best, I notice that alot of heavy hitters start more than one seed in the area they plan on growing and keep the one they think is going to grow the best. Is this common, the smart thing to do,,then what dig up the ones you don't plan on using and give them away. Thanks

back ups are good. but if you are good at starting seeds then you don't need as many back ups. many growers use there own seeds as back ups. if you don't need them then you can try to give them away - many do so - while they are still in the pot. If they are in the patch digging them up doesn't work so well unless they are still quite small. people just cull the one they don't want at the base and throw the plant away.
