I was thinking of direct sowing some seeds next year and starting some indoors in pots.

Is this a good idea?

I had more success direct sowing this past season than transplanting during a drought

Why peat pots Nic?

KRC, most growers start seeds indoors under controlled situations/environment to better the chances of germination especially with rare seeds or when you might only have 1 of the chosen seed that you really want to grow. With direct sowing, you are at risk of the elements outside and reduce your chances of successful germination.
