Calcium Peroxide in the solid form is what a 3M engineer recommended to me last year. He is a chemical engineer and formerly work in enviromental clean up. Used it with plants to increase nutrient and metal take up.

what i've read so far on the page Don Q recommends, for about 4 seconds, is worth the time it takes to print it out for later, and read it thoroughly!

soak some test seeds in H2O2 3% for 10 hours, or overnight.....sandwiching them between two clear pudding cups works well, keeps them submerged.....
then plant them like usual in seed starter mix.....NO NEED to rinse the seeds off or, at the moment, apply fungicide...
if it works like it did for me, only room-temperature
will be required to sprout them...it's slower than using the is it too-hot, is it too-wet, should i file the tip-method, (by the way -NO!!!) but i think we should experiment with it...
additionally, i did this last spring on test seeds, and saw no difference in germination speed compared to ones NOT soaked in H2O2.......( with heat, all sprouted at the same rate).....but the fact that the seeds are
'cleaned-up', and more likely to be free of fungus, and that no heat was required to sprout them warrants further investigation! try it and use it if you like it!
by the way, the H2O2 is STRAIGHT outta the bottle, like 3%,
like 50 cents a bottle---that's what you wanna use...'pal

I did some experiments with 17.5% H202 diluted at 500:1 last year thats only 0.035% strength that was the recommendation that came with the product(Growth technology liquid oxygen).
I used it on peas and beans and they definately came up faster than the same soaked in water.
When I used it on filed pumpkin seeds I didn't get any difference in germination time either Eric.
I came to the conclusion that the H202 had penetrated the seed coating faster on the peas and beans causing them to germinate earlier and that there was no difference in the pumpkin seed because the barrier formed by the seed coating had been removed by the filing.

It didn't do any harm and I will be using it again next year (the bottle I have will last for years).
I used a small plastic syringe to measure it accurately with,got mine from the vet.

BTW,H202 is superoxygenated water like what you find over the bubbler in the fish tank so it ain't such a new idea.

I have a second hand fish tank bubbler in my tea barrel. Nothing scientific. Just makes sense. When it quits on me I likely would not replace it. I can't prove one way or the other that it actually helps. Sounds good!
