If using 4" pots of any type for AG seeds...don't wait more than 2 days after sprout to transplant!!! (at least into a larger pot, after removing kowpot) They grow GIANT roots too!!! Peace, Wayne

I agree with Wayne zap, dont let your seedling grow to long in the smaller pots, by the time you see the cots fully developed your roots will already be at the bottom of the pot. I tried a couple of the pots last year and really liked them. (got mine from Ray at seedoutlet.com).

I wouldn't try to take them out of the cow pot as you would likely wreck the roots and kill the plant. Put them directly into a bigger pot or the ground. I have found that 5" peat pots work much better than 4" if you can find them. I get mine from Lowes. I poke some holes in them so roots can get out easier and you MUST keep them well soaked and soft. If you let them dry out and get hard the plant will get root bound. The 5" pots give you enough time to see just where the first true leaf is growing so you can position it correctly in the patch.

The 4" cow pots work good for starting and can be moved into 1 gallon containers. The pots themselves break down much faster than the peat pots. 6" round cowpots are available online from teritorial seed company

Just curious, if transplanting is recommended only 2 days after sprouting, why not just start the seeds in a larger pot rather than the 4 inch??
