I've got two 940 Mombert 00 seeds, and am hoping I can get one to germinate for this season. Are there any special techniques to help in germinating older seeds. Any special addititives in the seed soak?......should I freeze the seed before trying to germinate?, etc.?

Think about possibly doing a naked germination? Get her out of the seed coat, make things easier perhaps? What I would be afraid of happening is you might sand or cut away for the root to come out and being an old seed she might not pop fast enough before rot sets into the inside of a seed casing. By taking the seed coat away, you could germinate it in a paper towel and baggie. I'd boil the water you use and keep it as sterile as you can each time in the process. Keep her warm and change out the paper towel every 12-24 hours until she gets a root to form, then sink the cots and root 50% into moist warm seed starter mix. Just an idea.

Thanks Alex. That sounds like a good possible option.

Doug...search this sit for GA3 aka gibberellic acid. A splash of potassium nitrate helps too.
