Does anyone soak their seeds in seaweed or fish along with peroxide? Just curious.

I soak one on 04-10-10 for four hours with five eye drops of seaweed and fish to a cup of water. She's looking great!!!

I do a couple of drops of seaweed in a cup of warm (80 degreeish) water for two hours.

I get the reasoning for the peroxide, how does seaweed/fish aid in germination?

Seaweed contains cytokinins which has been shown in some studies to increase germination rates for many types of seeds. I haven't read anything about fish helping with germination.

Well there you go, I started five very old LG seeds tonight in 20% peroxide, maybe some kelp will help them along.

The 1st of six 95 Seca 2000 seeds has emerged after 7 days. I'll give the others at least another week.

Nope , just two cap fulls of peroxide in a dixie cup with a perforated dixie cup over that to hold the seeds under the solution for about 90 minutes. the seeds have all the food source they need for germination built into the seed.

Well I gotta say that before this year I never added anything, except peroxide on ocassion. Woke up this morning and the remaining 95 Seca 2000 LG seeds emerged. Maybe it was the 24hr double soak, maybe luck and maybe the small amount of seaweed added to the 1st 2nd soak helped. Either way, I'm a believer.

It should have read " added to the 2nd soak".
