I am starting my practice seed germination and was going to use Espoma Organic Seed Starter Mix. Is this mix compatible with the pumpkins?
Thanks PG

If it has any fertilizer in it, I would NOT use it.The salts in the fertilizer will hurt your pumpkin seeds. I killed a few seeds last year.

Does anyone have a suggestion for preferred starting soil for the seeds?
Thanks

I use 5" peat pots. In the bottom half I use a good potting soil with a tablespoon of Espoma Starter Plus or Jobes Organics(orgainc ferts, no salts, plus beneficial bacteria and mico). The top half is straight Jiffy mix. No problems with damping off or burning. Since I have done this my plants get off to a great start.

PG, it will be fine, Espoma Organic Seed Starter Mix contains Rich, premium blends of the finest natural ingredients. All three contain sphagnum peat moss, peat humus, perlite, and each has been enhanced with Myco-tonetm, a blend of endo & ecto mycorrhizae. Each mix helps promote root growth, increase nutrient and water uptake, and grow larger plants with more abundant blooms.
