Just a quick question. If you have a seed that breaks soil before the others and it appears to be getting better growth then the other seeds would that be a good indication that that particular seed will grow a bigger fruit. or are there slow starters that grow better in later season. Also the debate still lingers with me on this one. Are all the sees in a particular pumpkin created equal. are there some seeds that produce much better then others from the same pumpkin? Almost like a rank structure in the pumpkin.I believe they call that the magic bullet theory.

Kenny, also known as the "Golden seed" theory!!! and as I understand it, no...not all seeds from a given fruit are equal!! Also, no reputable evidence that early sprouters, will outproduce slow sprouters! Hope this helps!!! LOL That being said, if I had a quick starter, looking aggressive...I would have a smile on my face!!! Know what I mean? Peace, Wayne

Another story I like is the mailed Wallace seedling Don grew into a beast. Once she gets a few trues leaves on her it's off to the races and anything before that doesn't matter. But of course it would be wise practice to plant the best looking seedlings when possible.

Thats cool. I have the 1180 pukos and 991 urena growing really strong. THE 1610 lieber is the slowest. The 1596 Wallace is almost as big as both of them. Its just that I have some prime spaces in my patch that id like to give the best growers the best shot. Thanks.

No all seeds in a fruit are not equal Kenny,This has been proven,you can get a mutant seed(ribbion Vine)& seeds from same kin are normal.HHitters have told me a Quick germ dont mean,Dang Ditilly,Ding Dang Dong!But some guys do plant side by side & after a couple weeks rip out smaller,slower plant.Ive seen Monster plants not produce Squat,to much Nitrogen,which can change daily,from stormy weather.soil not balanced!!

Kenny, I agree with planting the best seedlings first and in prime spots however, I really like the 1610 and never let it take a back seat.

I have a Lowes AG seed (from my last years kin) germinated right next to a 1548 Marsh, 1059 VMG, and a 1101 Marshall and it is ahead of the pack. My answer is no.

Wait for the HH's but I'm pretty confident that they'll tell ya that patience is the key...they may start slow..but they also may be the thickest vine out in the patch...Way to early...look at Bohica's diary...devastated by wood chuck or pukos devastated by hail...both came back and grew great pumpkins..getting out of the pot is minor...GrowEmBig! Remember were growing pumpkins not vegetation.Ive had my biggest plants ,over the years,not be the ones producing my biggest 'kins.Go with your first picks(original lineup) if those plants arent runts or mutants.
