Curt, I would do more research on this topic. Last year I read that it not as easy as you may think if you want to use as a soil drench. Any willow would work tho.

I used weeping willow when I made it, I had a park full of them.

Done allot of research on this.its the white willow .similar to the weeping but whit willow will have little hairs under leaves.gona need to wait till sap is back in trees.but cut up limbs in peices soak in water for quik fix.but the best way is to take limbs 3'-4' leave leafs on & let them root out in trashcan with water then use that water out of can.replinish what water you take.

never heard of using salicylic acid for plants-used it for inflammation in people. So when do you start this regimen?I take it is a drench-is it 2 gallons per plant or per so many square feet?Interesting!

From what iv read it is something newer.this one sceintist lady did a controlled experiment on tomatoes & it reversed blights& yvd caused by svb that were placed on plant.Cant find that read again or would share.but its in the willow tea so dont think it would do damage.but im just gona spray hole plant every 10 evenly.take it or leave it not much proof to say garunteed ..but im trying it.

I tried using asprin several years ago when I had root rot problems, but it didn't cure the problem. I think it might be more helpful as a preventative as it is supposed to boost the plant's natural immunity. I plan to make willow water this year using sandbar willow, as much for stimulation rooting as for disease prevention.

the salacylic acid is not the rooting compound in willow trees. salacylic acid is a defense signaller also called a SAR (systemic Acquired resistance) it helps in the fight against disease. The willow tree has a high concentration of Indole Butyric Acid, this is the rooting hormone component.

So to use aspirin for rooting will only frustrate you and give you a headache, then you will need the aspirin yourself.
