This year were just hoping to get a big one to the scale. We had our soil tested for disease and we have high levels of fusarium, moderate levels of pythium, low levels of bacterial leaf spot( xanthamonas) . We will be trying to fight this stuff with biologicals and a cover crop of mustard in the fall and spring.

1756 doing well so far even with cold and rain. I did forget to add granular insecticide before planting this year, as you can tell on the fly strip. I havent added compost and manure for 3 years. Not all the hoops are that bad. I will be spraying weed killer as soon as weather warms up a bit to leave hoops open and will cover plants with styrofoam cooler as not to kill them.

This is our 11th year growing and im still learning. These are the fly strips from our hoop houses. Never before have I had to change them out. I believe these flys basically are from corn seed maggots. I havent seen any of the maggots but the plants are still healthy. We have not added any manure or compost to the patch in 3 years. So either conditions were right or they came from the sand I added this spring. So always add pesticides early. Unlike me.

This is a sample from our watering tanks. 1/3 cup of chlorine was added to the tanks 2 days ago for disinfection. The tanks will be emptied and rinsed. Or ph was higher than expected and is alkalinity after testing water from one of our faucets.

moved the frames from chubby back to mr pickles, and put old blue (40x60 tarp) over him and the whole plant. supposed to be 51 tonight. i put thermometer inside that will tell me how low temps were inside. im hoping at least above 55 maybe 60 with the to small heaters inside. if i had a better power source out there id throw my dehumidifier in there to :) only took 40 minutes to move frames and put tarp over the plant. me and toni have a good system going, she sits nearby and barks orders while i do all the work. (kidding)

812* jutras dap 50 doing an average of 6.8 lbs a day. Was doing 16.5 a day.I believe gains have dropped off because of cooler nights. Temps will be higher this week at night. We'll see if she picks back up a little. I attribute lower gains before the cold snap to only being 7 ft out on the main not the seed.

I must be completely nuts, changed over from giant blue tarp to plastic, just to get a few more hours of sunlight for the plant. I am working nite shift (4:30 to 3:00 a.m.) so I have to cover while the plant is in full sun. Than be out in the patch before 10:00 a.m. to take it off. They are calling for temps at night in the low 50's for at least the next 10 days. Also added dehumidifier to hopefully keep moisture levels down, so p.m. don't kill us. Praying to the pumpkin gods to make night time temps go up, so I don't have to do this for the next 50 days. After all this I'm really hoping for a p.b.

Tilled up the garden today, she's ready for mustard for the first time ever. Hopefully will help with disease issues we have. I couldn't till the whole patch, as we still have one monster sized pumpkin left.

I believe this is where the svb came from only about 2 ft from the pumpkin. More merit needed, just didn't think I would need it the end of sept. Didn't know they could travel like that. Learning a lot of new things this year.

Probably the healthiest plant we've ever had this late. Especially since of used chemical fungicide only once this year (eagle 20).Powdery mildew gained some ground during the warm spell. 22 days left until weigh off unless, mr. Pickles says other wise.mr. Pickles will be 90 days old this saturday.

Put a new roof over mr. Pickles, and a couple of fans around the base to keep him dryer. 15 more days to go. He is a beast, gains are up to about 5 lbs a day average over the last 5 days. I know it's not much but it's something this late in the game. He just keeps pushing even with some 40's at nite. 212 cc, only 16" away from what mikes 2106 was. He's at day 95 today.

Mr. Pickles is 105 days old to today, we've had about 4" of rain since last friday. Doing my best to keep him dry as a bone. Rain must have helped some we measured 5 times to make sure we weren't wrong, 215.5" cc an average of 7 lbs a day for the last 5. 5 more days until he gets loaded up

Pallet is almost as wide as the trailer. And dam heavy. I think I had a little over kill. Pumpkin is almost wider than the trailer also, so I may need a wide load sign or a new trailer next year.

Back half if the plant looks pretty good for this late. I think the cooler nites and no glyphosate has helped keep disease down, also lots of biologicals.
