Vapor Pressure Deficit- Basics

While CO2 enrichment may have the greatest influence on plants, humidity and more specifically VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit) may be second in line based on some studies.

The concept of VPD can be quite complicated as the amount of water (humidity) that air can hold changes with temperature. Meaning as the temperature increases the air can hold more water, however it is not a linear correlation since for a given volume of air at 68°F (20°C) can hold twice the amount of water vapor than at 50°F (10°C).
