Maybe this is why the bushel gourd weighed less than some other gourds that looked to be the same size. The center flesh is small and has pulled away from the sides. More water next time? Unlike pumpkins, younger gourds might have an advantage in going heavy to chart... They might weigh heavier relative to their circumference if they are more fleshy inside. My guess is, older gourds may be more likely to have these hollow spaces.
